Joshua Vides is bringing his signature artistic style to the world of G-SHOCK, and the collaboration is coming soon to Complex.
The LA-based artist has transformed two classic G-SHOCK models with his “Reality to Idea” concept, applying monochrome, comic-style graphics across the DW5600JV-7 and DW6900JV-1. Both watches feature hand-drawn artwork that gives them a striking two-dimensional appearance, as if they’ve been sketched directly onto your wrist.
“I’m excited to finally share my collaboration with G-SHOCK with the world,” Vides said in a statement to Complex. “Almost two years in the works, I’m proud to ultimately showcase the final product in my backyard, Los Angeles.”
The white-based DW5600JV-7 is rendered with bold black strokes across the band, case, and dial. The inverse colorway defines the DW6900JV-1, which takes on a matte black finish accented by white stripes. Both feature Vides’ hand-drawn artwork on the dial, and his trademark “Cone” motif appears when the backlight activates.
