For Very Famous Guys like Joe Alwyn, every arrivals gate is a menswear show just waiting to happen. And when he touched down at Nice Côte d’Azur, he out-mensweared absolutely everyone in a hundred-mile radius with the biggest grail duffel on the planet.
Appropriately named the Getaway, this is the Bottega Veneta weekend bag that every dude in the universe wants. Made in Italy from some of the supplest leather on the planet, it’s pieced together using the house’s signature ‘intrecciato’ weave. Which is basically a basket weave, but for billionaires. As we wrote in a story last year: “For generations, Bottega Veneta’s signature intrecciato woven leather was held up as a paragon of understated elegance. Then the Italian house blew it up… dousing it in fresh tones, and sculpting it into a perfectly proportioned [bag].”

Up top, the actor wore a pair of slick black shades. He slipped on a white cotton tank, and layered this with a bomber, again, all courtesy of Bottega Veneta. While this might on the surface look like just another a classic bomber jacket, it’s actually made from 100 percent calfskin that’s designed to resemble chino. Creative director Matthieu Blazy has form in this department. Just look at the house’s Spring-Summer 2023 collection for reference. Leather is made to look like denim, cotton, and other fabrics, thus centering Blazy as menswear’s biggest illusionist.
But still, few pieces are as Bottega Veneta as the big business class airport bag. A$AP Rocky likes ‘em. Jacob Elordi, too. And if Joe Alwyn can’t get enough of his, it’s probably time for you to secure the bag too.
