Ben Affleck did not court Jennifer Lopez at her Bridgerton-themed ball.
Just a few days ahead of her 55th birthday (which takes place on July 24), Lopez hosted a grand party in the Hamptons, complete with ball gowns and horse-drawn carriages. While Lopez’s mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez, arrived dressed for theme, People reports that the singer’s husband did not attend the event on July 20.
Despite Affleck’s absense, Lopez appeared in high spirits on the day of the party. “Today is gonna be a great day 🤍🙏🏼,” she captioned a series of Instagram selfies. Lopez was not wearing her own party gown in the photos, instead lounging around in a casual white tank top and jeans. She completed her latest Vacation J.Lo look with some less casual glam and accessories. Say it with me: “Chanel hoops and a slicked-back bun.” (IYKYK.)

Though Jennifer Lopez canceled her world tour to spend more time with family, she and her husband have remained on separate coasts amid incessant divorce speculation. While Lopez has been summering in New York since the beginning of the month, Affleck has remained in Los Angeles…even for their second anniversary of their Las Vegas wedding on July 16.
While many reports have cited Affleck’s distaste for the spotlight as the main source of their alleged marital strife, a source recently told People that Lopez’s superstar status is not the root of their problems. “The idea that Ben thinks Jennifer is too famous and that he didn’t know what he was getting into with the attention on their marriage isn’t true,” the source said. “There are deeper issues.”
Whatever those “deeper issues” are, there have been some positive updates. Affleck was photographed wearing his wedding ring as recently as July 19, while Lopez was seen wearing his first initial on a charm bracelet during a recent Hamptons promenade. Perhaps Affleck is simply waiting for a written invitation to call upon his wife.
