I'm Using the Amazon Sale to Buy My Next Daily Driver

If you’ve managed avoiding buying anything during one of these sales, this might be the one that gets you. Not because of all the typical sales: the workout gear, running shoes, tech, and menswear. No, what’s going to get you (or at least me) this time around are watches.

Watches… on Amazon? I know how crazy it sounds, but hear me out. I’m of the opinion that for every average man who cares about watches, his grail watch is already out in the world. It’s vintage or second-hand, and you can buy it somewhere like Watches of Switzerland that sells vintage. But it could be years before you find that watch, decades before you have the means to buy it. If you want a daily driver, Amazon is not a bad place to get it. Especially during this spring sale.

Let’s just run through a few of the watches on this list as examples. The Citizen Fugu Promaster in the lead image is an incredibly capable, well-priced, and storied dive watch. Same goes for Bulova’s modern remake of the Devil Diver, named for it’s 666-foot water resistance. The Timex Marlin reissue is a great Don Draper-style ’60s watch. And there’s not much more anyone can say about a G-Shock. The Amazon horological sweet spot is well-priced, and ready to be worn. These are not watches you hold for special events. They’re watches that are begging to be worn. Buy one (or a few) at a discount now.
