Naomi Campbell refuses to add fuel to the fire regarding her alleged fallout with Rihanna.
During NYFW earlier this month, Campbell and celebrity stylist Law Roach attended an Alaïa Spring 2025 runway show, with Rihanna being among one of the last guests to arrive. A viral clip from the occasion showed Rihanna greeting former British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful before walking past Roach and Campbell twice to find her seat.
After the event, Campbell and Roach recorded a video using the viral “demure” tagline, with some people speculating that the two were throwing shade at Rihanna’s outfit worn during the Alaïa show. But in a recent New York Times profile, Campbell refused to play into the gossip.
“I’m not about to let the world pitch two Black women against each other,” Campbell said when asked about Rihanna. “We are two women with two children, mothers.”
The ladies have long been friends, with both being photographed in a 2014 campaign for Balmain, as well as having been spotted together at the CFDA Fashion Awards and FENTY x Puma events throughout the last decade. Campbell was asked about her relationship with Rihanna on a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where she told the host that “everything’s fine” between her and the pop singer.
Also commenting on the Alaïa incident was Roach, who accused the public of stirring up drama.
“What’s so funny to me that in this universe of the internet and social media that y’all live in, y’all always think something has to be something. But something ain’t always something,” he said in a video posted on social media. “Sometimes something is just nothing. So stop trying to make nothing into something. Y’all need to get some business.”
