I Stepped Into Todd Snyder’s World and Really Didn’t Want to Leave

For plenty of guys who want to look good with ease, Todd Snyder—the man, the brand—represents a hallowed ground. The label has everything a person could need, from New Balance collabs to dialed-in suiting, watches to waxed jackets, staples to statement pieces. Every season brings a few remixes and a few surprises, to the point that stepping foot inside a Todd Snyder store “just for a look” can end up with a couple full-to-bursting bags on the way out. And yet, I put myself in that perilous position when I visited Todd Synder’s iconic Liquor Store in Tribeca, New York. And yes, I left with bags, plural.

In the process of sifting through the brand’s Fall 2025 collection, I ended up with five strong outfits that will, frankly, be on heavy rotation for the next three to six months (and no doubt beyond). It helped that stepping into Liquor Store means I was really stepping into Todd Snyder World: the brass fixtures, turntable, and literal minibar tucked into the corner set the vibe for racks and shelves of clothes that combine effortlessly into fits that feel timeless but not trapped in amber.

Below are, in fact, five fits from run through the shop. Though with Todd Snyder’s Liquor Store just a few blocks from GQ’s office, it’s dangerously possible that by the time you read this, I’ll have a few more.

Look #1: A Top-Tier Topcoat

Each winter I tell myself that a statement coat is the secret to a season’s worth of good fits. This year, that statement coat is coming from Todd Snyder. I was intrigued when I saw it online, but I was sold the moment I tried it on in the store. The brand nailed the balance of softness and structure in a way that let’s me wear this coat in at least ten different ways. The olive color was also a win, at least for me: different than all the grays and blacks, but not loud. For fun I pulled it on over a monochromatic look, raising some minimalist styling at a few extra levels.

Look #2: Doubling Down on Jackets With Jeans

Double-breasted jackets are having a moment. Blazers and jeans are having a moment. You can see where this is going. This handsome cashmere Donegal DB, with a vintage-inspired fit that ran roomy without feeling slouchy, nailed the confident-but-comfortable bullseye that every piece of tailoring should. (Plus, the fabric’s texture, with horn buttons, really hit the mark.)

Proportion plays a key role whenever a jacket enters the picture, so I anchored the DB with a pair of straight-fit Japanese selvedge jeans. It’s an office-ready outfit, sure, but unbutton the jacket and you can hit the town, too.

Look #3: Pleated, Cropped, and Very Smooth

The moment I saw this jacket I sidled up to the rack like a moth to a flame made out of soft, supple Nappa leather. Still, I was worried that the very right-now boxed-and-cropped fit might not work, at least for me. Then I pulled the jacket on, and remembered that it’s never a bad idea to trustfall into Todd Snyder’s hands. Drop-shoulders, side-entry pockets, and supple leather hit the spot. Wool trousers featuring reverse pleats had some shape up top, and sang a beautiful harmony with the shortened jacket.

Look #4: Suit, Party of One

Right about now is when my calendar app starts reminding me about all the dinners, soirees, and parties I’ll be powering through for the next month and change—which means I’m very much looking for a suit that won’t make me look like I’m about to present the Q3 earnings deck to executive leadership. Corduroy, of course, comes into its own when the temperature drops. Especially this one, with its chunky-waled fabric cut in a classic fit.

Look #5: A Walk in the Park

The key to off-duty style is that it shouldn’t be an afterthought. Especially if you’re in a place like NYC, where a low-key Saturday can have you doubling your step count goals while you grab a coffee, check out an exhibit, stroll through the park, see a show…and aim to look effortlessly good for all of it. With that in mind, this cashmere overshirt plays the role of a hoodie (soft, cozy, easy to wear) while looking ten times more put together.

Sweatpants might seem out of pocket for wandering a Man Ray show at the Met, but not when Todd Snyder works his magic, dialing in the fit without sacrificing the comfort. A classic black topcoat did plenty of heavy lifting by elevating the fit beyond dog-walking status. Though, now that I think about it, this is a damn good dog-walking fit, too.
