When you think of Demi Moore, you probably think about her hair. The actor’s glossy black hair is part of her signature look—she’s basically worn it this way throughout her entire career, save for a few experimental periods like her pixie era—and she rarely deviates from wearing it long and loose, flowing down her back. (She does, however, alternate between styling it sleek and wavy, depending on her vibe.) But for the Palm Springs International Film Awards, Moore did something completely unexpected with her hairstyle: she wore a bow.

ICYMI, the bow has been the hottest celebrity hair accessory of the past few years, fueled by the popularity of the “coquette” aesthetic on TikTok. We’ve seen bows on Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion, to name just a few famous faces who have dipped their does into the coquette trend. It’s the sweetest addition to ponytails, braids, and updos, but it’s not something I ever expected to see on Demi Moore, who has been synonymous with straight, shiny feet of hair since her Charlie’s Angels days. But that’s the fun of awards season—there’s always an element of surprise to keep you on your toes.

Hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos was behind the look, styling Moore’s hair in loose waves and pulling a small portion up and back, then cinching it with an oversized black Chanel bow right at the crown. He then pulled out two slim tendrils on either side of the star’s face, giving the style a more lived-in vibe to keep the bow from looking too precious.

All eyes are definitely going to be on Moore from here on out, as she won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for her work in The Substance. (She did wear her hair down at the Globes with her shimmery bronze Armani Privée gown, just FYI.) We’ve still got a lot of awards shows left on the lineup, so will the bow make another cameo, or are there more hair accessory surprises in store from Moore? You know we’ll be watching.
