Welcome to summer, and it’s scorcher out there. Suddenly, the only weather-appropriate clothing that feels even remotely appealing right now—flip flops?!—is also exactly the sort of stuff that would normally get us booted from the #menswear group chat. But under these steamiest of circumstances, sometimes you’ve just got to let your dogs out. Or, as the case may be, set your armpits free. Enter: the tank top.
Luckily, there were plenty of stylish fellas at Paris Fashion Week who braved the sweltering temps in sleeveless shirts, and their guns-out methodology is a good one to follow: The first step is to find a nice tank top—no freebies from your frat-boy days or tropical corporate retreat allowed. The second is to accessorize accordingly—even a plain ol’ ribbed tank can be elevated by a great belt or a solid pair of shorts. (That said, you should definitely exercise caution if you’re planning to wear a tank, shorts, and flip-flops to any place other than a poolside BBQ.)
