Will we be getting a Heated Rivalry season 2? You bet.
If you’re as obsessed as we are with the hot hockey romance based on Rachel Reid’s steamy novel series, Game Changers, you’ve already binged every available episode twice and are eagerly waiting for news about season two. Luckily, HBO Max didn’t wait long to share that hockey rivals-turned-lovers Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov’s story will continue past the season finale, which drops on December 26.
Here’s what we know about Heated Rivalry season 2, from the book it’s based on to the confirmed cast.
Heated Rivalry season 2 has been confirmed
Streamers often give new shows breathing room before announcing renewals but it only took four episodes for I Love LA to secure a second season announcement. With Heated Rivalry scoring number two in HBO Max’s streaming rankings after the release of just three episodes, it’s no surprise HBO gave its new romance the same treatment.
On December 11, HBO Max tapped series stars Connor Storrie (Ilya) and Hudson Williams (Shane) to share the big news via a cute unboxing video. In the Instagram Reel, the boys open a wrapped present revealing a hockey puck inside. Williams gasps when he reads what’s on the puck, asking, “Are you allowed to reveal that?”
The answer was yes. “Season two. Heated Rivalry. Confirmed” Storrie said, with Williams quipping, “Hotter. Wetter. Longer.” You can watch the flirty clip here.
How many episodes will there be of Heated Rivalry season 2?
Season one is just six episodes long, with it’s finale two episodes scheduled to drop at 12 am EST on HBO Max on December 19 and December 26. It’s possible HR will stick to a six episode rollout, but Williams comment that season two will be “Hotter. Wetter. Longer.” has fans convinced we could be getting more than that. “HUDSON SAYING THE SECOND SEASON WILL BE LONGER THANK GOD,” one fan commented, receiving over 8,000 likes.
What happens next?
Well, we still have more two more episodes of season one to go, though it’s fair to assume there’s no main character death to worry about. “We’ll both be there,” Williams confirmed in the Instagram video about season two.
