Heartstopper is back, and so are Kit Connor’s sick fits. But while the 20-year-old actor is usually known for his very big and very bold menswear (who remembers that shiny gold trench coat back in December?), last night, he was spotted in New York’s West Village with a balance of the wearable and the weird. And the best part? Normal dudes can—and are—pulling this off too.

While heading to a Variety party, Connor rocked up in a navy knit sweater by Scottish cashmere outfit Begg x Co, and he paired that with some all-black pants. So far, so straightforward. But with him being the big fashion guy that he is, of course these weren’t just any all-black pants. They were huge.

Wide, billowing—the perfect thing to match up with some big stompy Acne Studios boots. Connor’s big-ass pants were from Studio Nicholson, the cult London brand that prefers things on the wider side. Specifically, these were the Now Denim pants. Featuring a high-waisted design and a wrap-around belt, these are made from a woven-in-Japan fabric that’s washed with a special technique to create a cool crinkled finish.

The legs are also suuuper wide, and while XXL pants are usually kind of tough to pull off, Connor made it look easy with solid menswear classics (the polo shirt, the Tag Heuer Chronosprint watch, the sound gym routine, and so on).

The Wild Robot star is the latest guy to jump on the oversized pants hype as the look has successfully infiltrated the fits of Very Famous People all over Hollywood. Justin Bieber’s been known to do it very well. Channing Tatum, too. And even back in 2019, the late, great Virgil Abloh famously rocked an ultra avant-garde pair at the CFDA Fashion Awards.

So the next time you’re feeling a little experimental but you want to keep things kinda low-key, follow the teachings of Kit Connor. Big-ass pants are for everyone.
