How do you do, fellow kids? Pretty well, we’d guess—because Gap and Palace just dropped the cheekiest transatlantic link-up since Drake’s On the Radar freestyle. Earlier this morning, the duo made good on Palace co-founder Lev Tanju’s promise to bring his particular brand of smirking flair to Gap’s archives, via a collection jam-packed with future grails.
Five Instant-Buys from the Gap x Palace Collab
As teased in an exclusive interview with GQ, Gap x Palace is riotous romp through the American retailer’s backlog of hits—each imbued with a jolt of Palace’s signature pub wit. There’s a sure-to-sell-out riff on Gap’s legendary logo hoodie, a boxy oxford shirt chopped-and-screwed to colorful perfection, and, naturally, a dual-branded tracksuit done up rich shades of navy and red. The whole lot feels very fresh and very right now—and it’s not going to stick around long.
Per Tanju, the collaboration pays tribute to the ‘90s-era skate legends of the Bay Area (still home to Gap’s HQ today) filtered through the lens of the kids who worshipped them. Funnily enough, one of those kids was Tanju—so he tasked his team with emboldening Gap’s reliable basics via retro-tinged motifs and a Crayola’s box worth of peppy hues.
