It’s possible no celebrity haircut has been discussed as much as Emily Ratajkowski’s accidental jellyfish-meets-shag. But the model is in on it too: Emrata herself first brought attention to the botched style after calling it the “worst haircut of my life” on TikTok.
In the video she shows off the short, choppy bangs that go all around the circumference of her head (yes, for real). “Like, I have bangs on the back of my head,” Ratajkowski says to the camera.

However, we are pleased (though probably not as pleased as Emrata) to share an update on her now infamous hair journey: Her haircut has been fixed.
Jessica Gillin, celebrity senior hairstylist at Jenna Perry Hair Studio (whose clients also include Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid) was able to bring Ratajkowski’s hair back to a wearable everyday look.

How did Gillin do it? With the magic of hair extensions. Specifically, Gillin used K-tips, short for keratin tips, a specific type of extension that uses a keratin-based adhesive to attach the strands of hair to your own. It makes for a natural and cohesive look (read: no extensions detected).
The exciting hair transformation was totally customized and much more involved than wearing halo extensions or clip-in extensions. Gillin made sure to match Ratajkowski’s hair color, texture, and density to the K-tips and installed them with her growth patterns to maximize the seamless look. In the photos posted to Instagram, Ratajkowski’s hair looks like it’s been blow-dried straight—we can’t even tell where her hair ends and the extensions start (the sign of a job well done), and her bangs are invisible.
We’re thrilled that Emily Ratajkowski has put this era behind her—there’s nothing like a haircut gone wrong. For now we’ll wait for her next beauty update.
