Drake has presented evidence showing that he was among those fortunate enough to secure a Texas Rangers “Tetas” hat. The photo in question, which finds him showing off the briefly controversy-laden hat while awash in red lighting, arrived via Instagram Stories shortly after the release of the Theo Skudra, IMAX-shot video for “Nokia,” a clear fan favorite from Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
As you may have seen being relentlessly joked about on social media last month, the MLB Overlap 59FIFTY collection featured a variety of teams being given a design overhaul in which the logo of each was emblazoned atop the name, resulting in some vague humorous accidental words. Chief among them was the Texas Rangers ‘Tetas’ hat, as the incidentally created word, at least in Spanish, can be used when referring to breasts.
As of March 10, per a report from regional outlet The Dallas Morning News, the Tetas hat was not available to purchase via the official Rangers store. At the time, two sources “with direct knowledge of the situation” were cited as saying that team officials had no knowledge of the nature of the design prior to its public unveiling.
Expectedly, the hats were quick to start popping up on eBay and elsewhere at a considerable markup.
When sharing a photo of himself wearing one of the hats, Drake did not offer any additional commentary, opting instead for a wordless update. See for yourself below.
The “Nokia” video, released Monday, was shot on 65mm film using IMAX cameras and features choreography by Tanisha Scott. The track, produced by Elkan, is the first from Drake and PND’s joint album to receive an official video. In February, the project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and has since spent six weeks on the chart. As of the latest charts update, the album was holding strong at No. 4 behind Kendrick Lamar’s GNX.
The Tetas mini-controversy, meanwhile, isn’t alone in its headlines-generating silliness. Last year, we all had a lot of fun with the Oakland A’s “Ass Hat.” It’s unclear whether Drake also owns one of those.
