Can you believe we’ve been talking about glazed donut nails for nearly three years? Or that Demi Lovato has shown us another new way to rock the look? What started out as a Hailey Bieber-born trend has become as standard a nail look as the French manicure or classic red. We might even go so far as to say it was the earliest sign of what has been a major pendulum swing away from elaborate nail art over the past couple of years. But that doesn’t mean we can’t put our own little twists on the glazed look, and that’s exactly what Demi Lovato is currently doing.
Lovato definitely loves a fun manicure. Over the years we’ve seen her with butterfly nail art, black stiletto nails, and glass tips, just to name a few. At the moment, she’s serving up a more subtle look than she’s been known to wear in the past, but it’s no less interesting, and it’s still very much her.
The singer posted a selfie video on Monday, March 25, in which she’s in a car wearing sleek black sunglasses, a black cardigan, and what appears to be a middle-parted ponytail. She’s applying lip gloss and giving us a pretty clear close-up of her nails.
There’s definitely a sheer, shimmering situation going on, but instead of the typical glazed-donut hue somewhere in the white shade range, it’s a metallic gray that gives subtle rock and roll vibes.
Based on the gloss’s light blue cap and the account she tagged in the corner, it appears she’s keeping the shimmer going with Ortega Beauty’s Liquid Icon Hyper Gloss.
Now if only she’d drop hints about which nail polish that is!
