Delta Air Lines is upgrading its long-haul planes with new suites.
The updated Delta One suites will debut on the airlines’ Airbus A350-1000 aircraft in 2027, per a press release. The new suites will feature beds that are three inches longer than those in previous suites, as well as a new pillow-top cushion. The A350s will be upgraded with 50 suites.
“Most customers are side sleepers,” Mauricio Parise, Delta’s vice president of brand experience, told CNBC, indicating that the extra length will accommodate them.
This will be the first time Delta has rejuvenated its business-class cabin since their debut almost 10 years ago on the A350s. At that time, the long-haul suites boasted lie-flat beds, doors and a “do not disturb” button.
“We were a first mover, [and] started flying with doors in 2017,” Parise said of the first iteration of Delta suites. “There is an element of improvement.”
“Every time a customer boards a Delta flight, the experience and surroundings should feel familiar—creating a sense of home and comfort when you’re away,” Parise said in a press release. “The experience is designed to be deeply human-centric, with every inch within the aircraft created to provide top-notch comfort and connectivity.”
Delta’s update follows its competitor United Airlines’ unveiling of Relax Row economy seats last month. United also recently revealed its new long-haul Polaris suite and premium economy seats available on its narrow-body Airbus jets.
