After playing James Bond for 15 years, Daniel Craig seems to have picked up a few habits from the UK’s most debonair superspy. Both Bond and Craig always seem to have a trick up their sleeves. And while Bond had Q supplying him with all sorts of surprising gadgets, Craig relies on Omega for his new mechanisms. Last November, Craig debuted a new Omega Speedmaster with a white dial that wasn’t released until earlier this year. Now, it appears the actor and the brand are bringing that rollout strategy back at the Olympics.
While taking in the showjumping and skateboarding events at the Paris Olympics, Craig stealthily debuted a new Omega watch. As a member of MI6 might say: ENHANCE!
The not-yet-announced watch on Craig’s wrist appears to be a Seamaster Diver 300M. This particular reference looks to be a simplified version of Omega’s tentpole diver. Craig’s piece features a simple black dial and matching bezel with grayish-white accents. The wave pattern on many Seamaster 300 models is gone here in favor of a matte style. We’ve seen undecorated dials like this one on previous “007 Editions” of the Seamaster. The mesh bracelet on Craig’s new watch also mirrors the one featured in the most recent Bond movie No Time to Die.
Besides showing it off on one of the most famous actors in the world at arguably the most storied global event in history, Omega and Craig are otherwise keeping this watch under wraps. “Watch fans might also have spotted a new Omega watch on Daniel’s wrist,” the brand wrote in a press release. “The details of the timepiece will be revealed later this year, but for now, the first pictures give a sneak peek of what can be expected.”
Omega, which provides timing for the Olympics, has taken full advantage of its status as an official partner of Paris 2024. In addition to Craig’s new Seamaster, the brand also debuted a new Aqua Terra on the wrist of gold medal-winning vaulter Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. Eagle-eyed fans will surely be on high alert for any further glimpses at new releases before the Games come to a close on Sunday.
