This photo of Daisy Edgar-Jones on a walk in New York City could have been taken today or in the 1960s—if Daisy Edgar-Jones in the ‘60s was a bohemian folk musician paling around with Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. And that’s exactly why I’m obsessed with it.

The actor was spotted in a black T-shirt and light-wash straight leg jeans, worn with simple black loafers and socks and a vintage-style brown suede jacket. Over her shoulder she carried an oversized black nylon bag clearly stuffed to the brim, and added narrow black sunglasses. It’s a look that says, Yes, I’m effortlessly stylish but don’t pay too much attention to me because this is my everyday attire. And also, maybe, I’m just trying to get these farmer’s market groceries into the fridge before the artisanal cheese gets too warm. But that’s just me making things up.

This low-key yet somehow perfectly stylish look is pretty par for the course with Edgar-Jones. Yes, she will always show out for a red carpet moment, but her off-duty ensembles tend to prioritize practicality and comfort before trends—and who could be mad at that. I’m remembering in particular one winter outfit in December of 2024, when Edgar-Jones was snapped in a blue coat and scarf, which she paired with blue socks and blue Birkenstock sandals, not unlike something your dad would wear to go to the movies, probably.

The real trick of this outfit is that it doesn’t look like Edgar-Jones is trying to be trendy, but she still is on trend. Comfy loafers are having a Gigi Hadid-approved moment right now, and retro-inspired brown leather jackets have been worn by all of the usual It Girl suspects (Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Bieber, etc.). The good news is that you can probably replicate the look right now with things in your own closet. We might not all be Daisy Edgar-Jones, but at least we can all dress like her.
