Clint 419, founder of the London-based streetwear label Corteiz, challenged a troll to create a collection after they hated on a preview of his next collection.
In a post shared on Sunday, Jan. 12, Clint responded to a follower who suggested Corteiz’s designs “are just getting [worse]” and offered little creativity and originality. “Mr Fashionista. I’ll give you 18 hours to design a 10 piece collection,” he replied. “If I think it’s good I’ll put £5000 in your bank account. You’re talking so let’s see your workings.”
After 18 hours passed, he followed up with a post on Monday by offering the money to anyone.
“ite cool, he don’t want it,” he wrote. “ANYONE who thinks they got it. You have 24hrs to designa.10pc Corteiz collection. Best collection gets £5000. Simple. Below Imma attach a link to CADS [computer-aided design sketches] that can be used as a guide. QUOTE this tweet with ur final SUBMISSION. May the best person win.” He later shared a link with the CADS files, telling his followers to “go crazy.”
2024 was a huge year for Corteiz, which builds hype with one-off product drops and a password-protected site that demands fans to pay close attention, and a lot of that success came down to Clint’s approach to interacting with the brand’s fanbase on social media. The label was named the No. 6 clothing brand of last year by Complex, and it seems poised to replicate that success in 2025 if the previews are anything to go by.
