Celebrating an anniversary is a tricky thing for a fashion label—especially one as steeped in history as Canali. Done wrong, it can feel like a retread. If it’s successful, however, an anniversary can offer a glimpse of the future.

To mark 90 years in business, the brand known for its tailoring has introduced a capsule collection of menswear essentials that delivers the expected—jackets and trousers cut just right—along with a few things you may not have seen coming. The stars of the show, in our book, are a couple of exceptional pieces of outerwear. There’s a double-breasted trench and a single-breasted mac, both cut from a dark-gray blend of silk, wool, and cashmere. Understated, practical, and luxurious, they’re nods to the garment that started it all for the Brianza-based brand, which made its name producing raincoats for northern Italy’s most blustery days.

Trench Coat ($3,850), Sweater ($1,150), knit shirt ($1,595, across chest), and trousers ($1,495) by Canali; necklace ($785) and earrings ($255) by Martine Ali; sunglasses ($400, lead image) by Lowercase.

Alongside those standouts, you’ll find a lineup of casual staples, including a zip-up hoodie, button-front sweaters, drawstring trousers, and low-top sneakers. Accessories like ties, scarves, and bags round out the range; there’s even a waterproof baseball cap if you want to skip the umbrella the next time you venture out into the elements. The collection is distinguished from the main line by its narrow palette of grays and its own anniversary label derived from one of Canali’s very first, depicting a swan grasping a raincoat in its bill.

Altogether, it’s a testament to the legacy of a longtime family-owned brand—now with Stefano Canali, the third generation to lead the company, at the helm—and an enticing preview of what the next 90 years may bring.
