Masked burglars have raided the Windsor Castle estate, smashing through a security gate while Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children slept at home in Adelaide Cottage nearby.

According to reports, the two men broke into the Shaw Farm gate using a stolen truck, then stole agricultural machinery before escaping on the back of the estate’s quad bike. The destroyed gateway is the nearest entrance to the Wales family home, Adelaide Cottage, and the Prince and Princess of Wales are often seen using it to come and go from Windsor Great Park.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are thought to have been fast asleep as the break-in occurred. A source paints a chilling picture of the events, telling The Sun that the thieves could well have been “watching Windsor Castle for some time,” because they knew exactly when the barns would be left unattended. The source added, “It was a Sunday night on a school week, so the young princes and princess would have been tucked in bed at Adelaide Cottage, just around the corner but still in the grounds.”

Last night a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police confirmed the timeline of events: “At around 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, we received a report of burglary at a property on Crown Estate land near to the A308 in Windsor. Offenders entered a farm building and made off with a black Isuzu pick-up and a red quad bike. They then made off towards the Old Windsor/Datchet area. No arrests have been made at this stage and an investigation is ongoing.”
