Bruce Springsteen is an American institution and a rock and roll poet, whose art has both been speaking directly to lost souls and resonating with the masses for decades now. Because of the magnitude of his musical achievements, perhaps insufficient time has been devoted to his other accomplishments. Namely, his sick jacket collection.
The jackets have been on full display lately, owing to the ongoing filming of the Bruce Springsteen biopic, Deliver Me From Nowhere. The movie, starring Jeremy Allen White as the Boss and Jeremy Strong as his longtime manager Jon Landau, focuses on the making of the 1982 album Nebraska. Springsteen, the president of New Jersey, has been intermittently visiting the Garden State set, which is hilarious for two reasons: 1) Constantly visiting the set of your own biopic is the most Springsteen thing he could possibly do and 2) it means Jeremy Allen White has to play Bruce Springsteen while the real Bruce Springsteen watches him intently. (Speaking of JAW: that guy also has some Good Jackets.)
Anyway, since his initial visit on November 4th—when he wore a toasty red flannel coat—every time Springsteen has visited Deliver Me From Nowhere, he’s also delivered us a different new piece of excellent outerwear.
Of course, Springsteen has long been known to wear many important jackets in life both personally and professionally (on the covers of Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, and Tunnel of Love, for instance). And as GQ noted as recently as 2019, pegged to the promotional run of his album Western Stars, “Bruce Springsteen can’t stop wearing two jackets.” (So true.) But this chilly-weather filming of Deliver Me From Nowhere has had him on a particular heater. Behold, a running list of every single jacket Bruce Springsteen has worn while visiting the set of his own biopic.
