Nicola walked down the aisle in a custom Valentino wedding gown, which, per Vogue, took over a year to make; Nicola also made two trips to the fashion house’s headquarters in Rome for fittings.

However, as Nicola later explained to Grazia USA in 2022, Valentino was not the original plan. She said that her friend and stylist, Leslie Fremar, and her mother, Claudia, were helping to design a dress with Victoria.

“I thought, ‘Oh, this is going to be so fun. One of my best friends and my mom,'” she said. “We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it.”

She continued, “So, I spoke to my mom and Leslie, and I was like, ‘Well, unfortunately, this can’t happen, so what’s the next step?’ I’ve been a fan of Valentino and their couture for so long. I was really lucky to be able to travel to [the atelier] to try on the dress. That’s really what happened.”

However, in early 2026, Brooklyn painted yet another picture of events. “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” he wrote in a lengthy screed about his parents shared on his Instagram Stories.

It’s not unusual for a bride to purchase a wedding dress well over a year before their actual nuptials, so perhaps Brooklyn’s use of the phrase “eleventh hour” is relative—especially considering the scale of a celebrity wedding. But until Victoria chimes in, we may never get the full picture of Wedding Dress Gate.

April 18, 2022: Brooklyn changes his Instagram handle to reflect the couple’s decision to take each other’s last names. “We really wanted to share the same name,” Nicola later explains to Glamour. “For us, but also for our future babies.”

Added Brooklyn, “Just imagine a bunch of little Peltz Beckhams running around.”

April 9, 2022: Peltz and Beckham marry in a traditional Jewish ceremony featuring a chuppah bedecked with orchids and an “elevated runway” with “water and floating flowers” on each side. Afterward, the evening flowed into an “elegant black-tie” reception. Per People, almost 600 guests attended, including the likes of Mel C, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Jordana Brewster, Gordon Ramsay, and Eva Longoria, plus Nicola’s parents and seven siblings as well as the entire Beckham clan.

Peltz’s grandmother served as her maid of honor, and Brooklyn’s father, British soccer legend David Beckham, delivered a lengthy speech “about Brooklyn being born, their family life, and how great of a mom Victoria is.” David Blaine reportedly performed during the cocktail hour, and Marc Anthony took over later in the evening on a stage that “literally rotated around.”

The two later reflected on their ceremony in their Glamour cover, emphasizing the importance of taking a moment for themselves during the big day. “Someone gave us this advice and I’m so glad we listened,” Nicola explained. “Step away, breathe, be together. Those were my favorite moments. Weddings can be intense, especially when you’re busy making sure everyone else is having fun. That little break reminded us what it’s really about: us.”
