Jordan Brand Generational Greatness Ad
Jordan Brand recreated the iconic 1991 ad starring Spike Lee, but this time cast Niecy Nash as the genie for her to celebrate her greatness and unveil the upcoming Infrared “Salesman” Air Jordan 6 release. I personally love when Jordan Brand taps into the archives to tell an even deeper story, and it’s clear that’s what the brand is doing with this launch. It highlights women across different spaces who are achieving greatness, while also creating room for even more women and girls to do the same.
Jordan Brand Unveils Heir Series 2
Jordan Brand is clearly all-in on women’s basketball and building footwear for the next generation. We recently got a first look at the Heir Series 2, along with deep insights into the women’s game from WNBA star Napheesa Collier. The main focus of the shoe is midfoot lockdown, speed, and traction.
The silhouette is sleek and lightweight, but still covers all the performance needs for explosive players. One of my favorite parts of the unveiling was the added innovation: a new Air Zoom unit and a thicker drop-in Cushlon 3.0 midsole. These updates aren’t just about comfort, but about helping hoopers move at their highest level on the hardwood while staying protected.
Jordan Brand Basketball senior creative director Leo Chang walked us through the design details and key performance features. The launch colorway was intentionally bold and bright to stand out from every angle on the court.
“Women’s basketball has a very important place in the sports landscape, and Jordan Brand is committed to helping the next generation of hoopers reach their greatness. We titled this series of footwear ‘Heir’ knowing that these amazing athletes are next up—here to claim the basketball throne as their own,” Chang said. “The Heir Series 2 is the next iteration of the basketball sneaker designed for her, by her. The new forefoot Air Zoom unit enables even more support and responsiveness, tailored to the beautiful playing style of the women’s game.”
Overall, this shoe feels intentionally designed for her, by her. With Napheesa Collier, a leader in the W and one of the league’s best being involved in the process, it makes sense that the insights behind the performance and design reflect what women hoopers needs now and in the future.
We also got a look at more colorways of the Heir Series 2 coming down the pipeline and they’re truly good. Chang also emphasized that while this shoe is designed to celebrate her greatness, it’s a shoe made for any and everyone, and I need a pair.
