For one weekend only, Betsey Johnson is bringing back her beloved designs in a storefront setting after the company filed for bankruptcy in 2012, shutting down all retail stores.
The immersive pop-up, dubbed “The Art of Betsey,” will bring that colorful ‘90s nostalgia to Shopify’s storefront at 131 Greene Street in SoHo, New York. In addition to a selection of apparel, jewelry and accessories available for purchase, the space will be transformed into an homage of Johnson’s maximalist legacy, characterized by loud prints and colors, bringing a punk edge to the feminine.
The space will also double as a gallery, showcasing her original artwork that inspired the capsule collection. One dollar from every sale both in-person and for select styles online will benefit the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
“I’ve always loved my stores because that’s where I got to meet my girls, seeing what they chose, how they styled things and hearing their stories,” Johnson shared in a press release. “I’ve missed that so much. This pop up feels like opening my doors again, but this time you’re stepping into my memories, my art and my world.”
The pop-up will take place March 27-29. You can find out more details and RSVP here.
