On April 7, People confirmed that Plaza and Abbott are preparing to welcome their first child together. This may come as surprising but welcome news for millennials: Plaza embodied millennial cynicism as the deadpan April Ludgate in Parks & Rec, while Abbott came to represent a generation of toxic boyfriends as Charlie in Girls.
Their pregnancy announcement is the first confirmation that the pair are dating and comes a little over a year after Plaza’s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide.

April 7, 2026: People reports that Aubrey Plaza, 41, is expecting her first child with her partner, Chris Abbott, 40. She is due later this fall.
A source told the outlet that the pregnancy is “a beautiful surprise after an emotional year” and that the couple feels “very blessed.”
August 19, 2025: Plaza opens up about her grief during an interview with former Parks & Rec costar Amy Poehler.
“Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning,” Plaza told Poehler. “I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m okay, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously.”
