As he often shares, fatherhood has become a major part of ASAP Rocky’s “creative process.”
The Harlem rapper joined hosts Chioma Nnadi and Chloe Malle on a new episode of podcast The Run-Through With Vogue, where he detailed how his sons with Rihanna, RZA, 2, and 20-month-old Riot Rose, have shaped his artistic output. Alongside Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo, Rocky is co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, which will be held on May 5.
“Being a father is my creative process now because I just embodied it as a whole. I never really had a role model or just an iconic figure,” Rocky said around the 27:45 mark of the episode. “…And I guess I’m that for people, and I didn’t purposely try to do that, but I take it as a badge of honor.
“I’m so flattered and, just being me, that it can inspire people to actually do something that is considered good, being a present, active father.”
He continued, “I love that shit. For me, my dad was a proud dad. He taught me everything I know, especially how to be a gentleman and whatnot, so I was prepared to be a dad my whole life, man, you know? I’m ready, and I’m 36 going on 37, man. These clothes suit me well.”
Towards the 33-minute mark, Rocky called it “amazing” to see his children “growing into their personalities.” “To see them actually, like interact with each other and interact with me and with their mom. And it’s amazing. It’s beautiful,” he said.
“It’s something that you dream about, and when it happens, it’s just like you [are] living your dream and that all jokes aside. And I hate to make it sound extra, …but that’s just how it is for me.”
During a previous sit-down with Vogue, as seen in the clip above, Rocky said that becoming a father helped him get in his “dad swag bag.”
“It stepped me up, honestly,” he told the publication. “Like, I could justify doing this like not going to the club or just leaving after five minutes and shit like that–doing old people shit.”
