In an appearance on Complex’s Sneaker Shopping, ASAP Rocky joked that he’s constantly “in competition” with Rihanna when it comes to their design work.
At around the 10:50 point of the episode, seen above, Joe La Puma asked Rocky if he ever shares designing “notes” with Rihanna, with whom he shares two children.
“Nah, we in competition,” Rocky said, laughing. “No, I’m fucking with you. That’s my ace, like, every now and then we totally don’t even talk about what we’re doing. But Puma is just separate. When we in the house, we barely try to talk about work but every now and then I might see some shit she doing, and if it’s fire, I call up Puma and I’m tight about it. … But nah, it’s dope shit.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Rocky was asked about whether he’s saving shoes in the hopes of giving them to his two sons, RZA and Riot, when they’re old enough.
“I am, but I’m selfish,” he said. “I’m just going to give them what was in my size. So like, hopefully they fit that size. If they could fit it they can have it.”
Rocky might be gearing up to drop a new album later this year, but he’s just as embedded in the fashion world as he is in the music industry. He was appointed first creative director for Ray-Ban Studios last month, and he’s worked extensively with Puma on several collections.
Rihanna, meanwhile, has her Fenty brand, which has also collaborated with Puma multiple times.
Recently, Rocky showered his partner with praise in an interview.
“Birds of a feather flock together,” he said of Rihanna. “I’m gonna ride ’til wheels fall off like she do. That’s my dog, that’s my n***a, that’s my bitch, that’s my wife, that’s my everything.”
