Anya Taylor-Joy always seems to make a statement with her style and beauty choices, and her latest outing has proven she’s the queen of a particularly over-the-top trend: the yeti coat.
We don’t know about you, but the style—a hulking faux-fur coat, reminiscent of the wild and furry exterior of a cave monster—has been popping up all over our feeds lately.
More untamed than the mob-wife coat, which leans more glamorous in a 1980s way, the yeti coat piles on the fuzz, often comes in bold colors, and essentially steals focus from whatever the wearer has on underneath.
Anya Taylor-Joy isn’t the only celebrity embracing the style: Earlier this month, Hailey Bieber wore not one, or two, but three giant furry coats just in January as she rang in the New Year, celebrated Rhode launches, and went for a ski trip in Aspen with pal Kendall Jenner.
It’s easy to see why the girls have embraced the OTT faux-fur coat. The statement piece helps you look pulled together no matter what else you’re wearing underneath, even if it’s just jeans and a white T-shirt. The street-style crowd have also become evangelists for the style, as we’ve seen several during Copenhagen Fashion Week and Berlin Fashion Week, and will likely see more when New York Fashion Week kicks off on February 5.

But back to Taylor-Joy: While doing press in New York this week, the actor stepped out in a McQueen coat so giant you could maybe see it from space. The creamy white piece featured exaggerated shoulders that then narrowed down at the hips. It’s also worth noting the coat is made from natural shearling, a renewable resource—and a by-product of the meat industry that’s biodegradable, so it won’t end up sitting in a landfill forever.
