A year after filing to legally drop Pitt from her surname, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh has debuted a stage moniker, and it’s pretty darn cool.
Choreographing a dance for a recent Isabel Marant show, she was listed in the program simply as Shi, according to Variety. It’s not an unexpected career evolution for the 19-year-old, whose dance skills have regularly gone viral over the past couple of years.
Shiloh’s legal name change caused a bit of a stir last year, as a source revealed, “[Brad is] aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter…. The reminders that he’s lost his children [are], of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.” This statement in itself was seen as controversial, as Angelina Jolie had already adopted daughter Zahara when Shiloh was born. Then again, Zahara no longer uses the surname Pitt, either, so, we suppose it’s a bit of a wash.
In fact, it seems that none of Pitt’s daughters want to keep his last name, as 16-year-old Vivienne is listed as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for The Outsiders on Broadway, where she is her producer mom’s assistant and a coproducer.
Add to all this the fact that Suri Cruise has reportedly been going by Suri Noelle, and the lesson is clear: If you starred in 1994’s Interview With the Vampire, you need to prioritize your relationship with your daughter or she will drop your name! In fact, let’s check on Antonio Banderas’s daughter with Melanie Griffith…okay, from a quick perusal of her Instagram, it seems Stella Banderas is tight with her parents and is engaged to her childhood sweetheart. Great job, Antonio!
