T.I. revealed the story behind his son receiving (and giving away) a rather expensive gift from an intoxicated Kevin Hart.
On an episode of his podcast ExpediTIously, the rapper was joined by his son, Domani, when the subject turned to Hart being none the wiser to the fate of a Rolex.
“When Domani was about, I don’t know, man, he was about 15 years old, we were moving around through the city and he had just started hanging out with me, going to places I go, doing the stuff that I do. And we went to a lounge. It was a day party at a lounge,” T.I. recalled. “Kevin Hart was in there….and then Kevin was drunk.”
The “About the Money” rapper remembers Hart being “visibly drunk, like stumbling [on his] words.” The comedian also appeared to be moved by T.I.’s relationship with Domani, telling him, “I love seeing you hang out with your son and see you and him. It’s good. Make me feel good. It reminds me of me when I don’t get a chance to hang out with my son. So you know what? You know what I’m going to do for you? You’re not going to be able to stop me. I’m going to give you a watch. I want you to have this watch because I want my son.”
T.I. noted the absurdity in that statement, telling Hart, “That don’t even make no fucking sense. That don’t even make sense. Why you giving him a watch? Because you want your son to have a watch? Why don’t you just give a damn watch to your son?” The drunken comedian refused to take back his offer, saying, “Tip, stop it. Can’t stop me.”
He said Hart “forced that watch on Domani,” noting it was a Rolex Daytona, which starts at a humble $30,000. Despite the strange circumstances, T.I. said, “That was such a memorable moment.”
However, the conversation took a turn when the 45-year-old rapper asked his son where the watch went.
Domani explained that he encountered a young boy counting coins outside of a Chipotle and, after speaking to him, discovered he was living in a hotel with his mother. Much like Hart witnessing T.I.’s affectionate display toward him, the 25-year-old felt compelled to be generous.
“I ain’t had no cash on me, but I was like, shoot, bro. I don’t know what you got going on, but I’mma give you this watch and what I can tell you to do is sell it,” he remembered. “Sell this watch. And this is how much I heard it’s worth. So if someone try give you lower than this, nah, bro, don’t take it. Go and sell the watch. And go figure it out.”
T.I. asked if Hart was aware of this, to which Domani replied that the comedian was not. “Well, he damn sure know now,” the rapper replied, although they both agreed that they don’t think Hart would be upset by the gesture. This also appears to be a pattern for Domani, who said, “That’s why I don’t carry stuff, though. I don’t be having stuff on me. Nothing of value ’cause I give it away.”
And T.I.’s main takeaway? “Both of you motherfuckers too generous. You motherfuckers too rich,” he joked.
When Domani isn’t giving away Rolexes, he’s dropping scathing diss tracks aimed at 50 Cent, with whom his father is embroiled in a rap beef. After the New York rapper insulted his mother, Tiny Harris, Domani stepped in with “PU$Y.”
“I smell pussy / How bout you come here and try to push me,” he raps. “That sugar water got you, now you turn sweet I smell pussy / N***a yeah I read you like a book read / Come bring your act to school, quit playing hooky / Right now I smell pussy / You a pussy / You beat the weak, okay you wanna cookie / My n***a you a pussy / Yeah yo eatin’ duck, well let me cook, B / I burn you like he tried to burn your own seed.”
