Fat Joe wants men in his age range to stop trying so hard to keep up with the younger generation as far as their fashion sense goes.
The Bronx rapper, 55, was joined by his daughter, Azariah Cartagena (or ‘Azzy’), on the Wednesday (December 10) episode of podcast Ghetto Runways, where he talked about the style trends he’s repulsed by.
One trend that Joey Crack considers “played out” is when men dress old-fashioned when they think they’re putting it on.
“It’s horrible to see somebody who I once thought was really fly played out. Clothes ain’t supposed to age,” Joe said around the 58-minute mark of the episode below. “So, as long as you fly, you know what fly is. You got a couple of dollars, you could pull it off.”
“Some guys, they look dated to me all the time,” Joe added.
The Terror Squad frontman went on to explain that while he doesn’t dress his age, he isn’t “into the teenybopper” style.
“I’m not into a guy, 50 years old, dressing like he’s a nerd, like he’s 12 years old,” Joe continued. “That’s kind of like mental illness to me or something. No, I want to be fly. I want to be forever young.”
The Joe & Jada co-host also explained that his hair coloring product Rewind It 10 is for men who want to stay youthful as they age. “I’m all about being young, fly, whatever. But don’t come here with the t-shirt of the kid in the fucking suburban high school and you a 50-year-old dude. I’m not jacking that shit,” he said.
The rapper had similar criticism for those who dress “weird” while on The Best Sneakers of 2025 panel at ComplexCon in October.
“If you dress weird and you think you’re fly because you dress weird, you’re not fly. You just got a bunch of shit on. If I walk in ComplexCon and a n***a walking with a parachute on his back and all that, you’re a weirdo, bro,” Joe joked around the 36-minute mark above.
“This shit is crazy now,” he continued. “N***as dress straight weird thinking they know. Maybe ’cause Kanye cracked the code back in the day. Don’t think that’s you, n***a.”
