This ring is a sweet deal for Android users, not for iPhone users. And by that I mean, it doesn’t work with iPhones so don’t even bother. That being said, don’t let the name deceive you: Any Android phone works with the Samsung Galaxy Ring—even the Pixel. If you do own a Galaxy phone, all the Samsung apps come pre-installed and you can access extra features like Samsung Find. Plus, initial pairing and setup is a lot easier for Galaxy users.

Once you get it set up and on your finger, though, it’s a gorgeous and lightweight smart device—one that I didn’t want want to take off. It’s a perfectly fine (and comfortable) sleep tracker if that’s all you need.

There’s no subscription fee for Samsung Health, which makes it an easier recommendation to the average person. After only a couple weeks of use, I noticed the edges of my black Galaxy Ring start to scratch and wear down. It’s not terrible, but it’s enough to make it not flawless, which is a bummer when you’re paying $400.

But my favorite feature of the Galaxy Ring is the charger, which doubles as a carrying case. It can hold a bit of an extra charge too. This way if you are going on a day trip, you don’t even need to bring any additional cord clutter—just a watch and a case.
