When it comes to cooking from a recipe, I’m a stickler for utmost accuracy down to the decimals. I.e., if a cookbook tells me to use 1.75 tablespoons (tbsp) of olive oil, that’s exactly how much I’m gonna pour; 2.25 teaspoons (tsp) of soy sauce? That’s exactly how much my mixing bowl is gonna get. No out-of-the-box thinking or personal curation. Why? Because I’m not risking on a good dish that tastes exactly right. And neither should you.
Where I am willing to mix it up is with my kitchen utensils. The best items make cooking easier. Faster. Better! If you don’t know what bits or slices can be streamlined with what gizmos, TikTok has answers aplenty amongst its viral, affordable products. Like these two oil dispensing sets that belong to the “things I don’t need but will still buy” category. They’re wicked genius, and now on sale—up to 30 percent off—at Amazon.
Don’t get us twisted: An intuitive pour of olive oil (or any cooking oil) into a Dutch oven for beef stew, salad bowl, or simply spoon works just fine. But every so often, a not-too-much, not-so-little, precisely measured pour is wiser for the mess-free cleaning and dead-on flavor that’ll come after. That’s why TikTokers love Dwëllza Kitchen’s Oil Dispenser Bottle: atop of it, there’s a marked measuring reservoir that gauges the oil quantity in both tsp and tbsp. To use it, pour in your oil of choice, press the button to fill up the reservoir, then just pour out the desirable amount—and it’ll only pour out that amount.
The next in Dwëllza Kitchen’s set is an oil sprayer, an item I can say from my experience makes making eggs much more satisfying. Scrambling eggs is more of my forté, but I used to make the mistake of using too much olive oil for the pre-heat every time. An oil pump mister like this changed that situation entirely. I started to spritz thoroughly on the pan six to eight times instead of pouring my heart out, I don’t think I’ve ever known the real taste of eggs before—it was always too much grease. To boot, Dwëllza Kitchen’s sprayer has a filter that prevents clogging.
Then, the two oil dispenser bottles by Belwares. One big (18 oz), one small (10 oz). They work, look, and nail it on the precisionist front. That is, both have a measuring cup atop that’ll pour directly. And both are TikTok-approved as well. Bonus: if you find oil dripping from regular glass bottle annoying, the spout or nozzle on these dispensers won’t allow it. And they’re all made of glass, not plastic, so they’re also non-toxic. But there’s just one caveat in that you need to be sure to keep them away from sunlight so the olive oil within won’t go bad.
Which brings to our last point. These are not only for olive oil or cooking oil. Hear us out: Try putting alcohol in them… A perfectly measured cocktail is nothing to sneeze at. Or, try mouthwash, liquid laundry detergent—anything fluid that can be made better by measuring with numbers in lieu of measuring with heart. So long you’re using these bottles for controlling consumption, it’s anyone’s game. And with a nice $10 or more shaved off from both Dwëllza Kitchen’s and Belware’s oil dispenser set, it’s almost too enticing to turn it down.
