Ask any desk worker you know, and they’ll tell you they need a new office chair. Doesn’t matter if they’re a work from home type who rolls out of bed at 8:50, makes their own coffee, and sits down at their WFH desk at 9:01. Doesn’t matter if they commute two hours by train (need some headphones?) or car (how about a CarPlay adapter?). Any desk jockey is going to say, “I hate the chair I have now, but I don’t have money for a new one.”
If you’re one of such people, good news, Herman Miller is doing something we rarely see. It’s discounted all office and gaming chairs by 25 percent.
We are diehard fans of the gaming chair that Herman Miller made in collaboration with Logitech, dramatically named the Vantum. There’s a handful of other options the people over at r/OfficeChairs—yes, there is an online office chair community—talk about a lot. The Aeron, which was once the office chair to own, divides opinions these days, so the Embody would be my pick for that classic office chair look and feel. But I really love the Eames designs as fashion options. The molded plastic, classic management chair, and soft pad chair all do the back support necessities without looking like Star Trek captain chairs.
Even with 25 percent off across the board, this is a still a big investment. But if it’s one you’ve been waiting to make, now is the best time to do it. None of these options are final sale, so trades and returns can still happen. And also, my employer just told me it won’t pay for an office chair upgrade. So if any of you want to do an editor a big favor, go ahead and invest in one for me.
