Before upgrading to the iPhone 16 Pro, I was very happy with my 14 Pro. I don’t even think about upgrading every year anymore, but Verizon, AT&T, and Apple have engrained the two-year cycle to my brain. So how does the 16 Pro compare to the same model from two years? Better, just slightly, but given the fact it’s the only Pro iPhone Apple currently sells, it’s the best iPhone out there.
On a basic daily use level, the iPhone 16 Pro shows its power. Compared directly to the iPhone 16, it lets you multi-task faster, battery drains slower, and it doesn’t take as much of a performance hit when many apps are open. Once you go Pro, it’s hard to go back. Even something as simple as scrolling back through your text history is so much smoother. In terms of audio listening, there isn’t much of a difference, but video is impacted. You can only watch and record videos in 4K on the 16 Pro, due to its upgraded camera.
Oh, and these new iPhone 16 phones finally ditch Lightning charging. Apple made that switch with the iPhone 15, but seeing as I skipped that, this was huge news for me. If anything, that’s the most worthwhile update. It’s now one cord for your phone, laptop, and everything else.
