Welcome to The Esquire Endorsement. Heavily researched. Thoroughly vetted. These picks are the best way to spend your hard-earned cash.

My nightstand is littered with the corpses of devices I’m testing. Right now you will see: two iPhones, two Apple Watches, two pairs of earbuds, a whole-ass gaming monitor, and Nintendo’s Alarmo (unplugged because it drives my bedfellow insane). This causes two problems, each at odds with the other. Organization is out the window and I clearly don’t have charging plugs. Keeping the clutter in order is difficult. Often times I realize the devices I need charged have little battery when it’s too late. Then I found the product that changed it all.

The MAG:3 Classics Dual-Device Charging Tray is the most practical way to class up your nightstand or desk space. It comes in both a linen and leather choice—both incredibly nice for the price—all while keeping you from worrying about if your device is charging or not in the middle of the night.

Essentials At The Ready

As a catch-all tray, the Courant MAG:3 is a veritable godsend. It doesn’t look like the kind of 30-year-old floppy leather valet tray my dad handed down to me when I was young. It’s a sturdy tray with a slightly raised lip and two discreet magnetic charging segments. It easily holds my wallet, my phone, smartwatch of choice, and two pairs of earbuds, with space for extra bits and bobs like when I throw down my keys or loose change.

I chose the saddle leather color-material combo, because in the choice between linen and leather, I always go leather. I can make a mess like nobody’s business, so the most spill-resistant choice is the best. If you prefer linen, you’ll be greeted with a slightly friendlier price-tag.

While I can only speak to the leather tray, I can attest that it stands the test of time (so far). After months of using my MAG:3 on a daily basis, the only wear and tear in the leather I can see is a slight crocking where my phone spends roughly four hours a day (I rarely leave it to charge overnight). That may even be due to my fondness for leather iPhone cases, and the ensuing leather on leather rubbing that can cause.

Charge Up To Three Devices At Once

Once you plug in the USB-C power cable, you are ready to start charging. The phone section on the left has a strong magnetic pull that keeps your device secure. And it’s great to be able to plop my earbud charging case down right next to it without any fuss. Just set ’em down and pick ’em back up an hour later. But it’s called the MAG:3 for a reason.

This catch-all tray allows you to magnetically charge two devices, but also supports USB-C out for other devices. It’s an almost secret feature, but it’s one of my favorites. Charging my Oura Ring or smartwatch through the MAG:3 keeps my power strip clutter-free, and less likely to become a fire hazard.

If I am using a pair of wireless over-ear headphones that charges via USB-C, it can charge that too. While the magnetic Qi charging spots only provide 7.5 watts of power to the left segment, and 5 watts to the righthand one, Courant hooks you up with a 10 watt brick. The external USB slot is the only way to harness that full potential. In short, it’s strong enough to charge some tablets, but not enough juice for a laptop.

Fashion Meet Function

If there’s one thing we love here at Esquire, it’s when an accessory looks good doing it’s job. That is the most succinct way I have of summing up why I love the MAG:3 charging tray from Courant. It’s classy and it makes me feel like I can breathe a little easier every single. If cord chaos is giving you anxiety, this catch-all device is a mental health cure-all.
