To kick off the week, Megan Thee Stallion was recognized for her philanthropic work as founder of the Pete & Thomas Foundation.
On Monday night (Oct. 21), the 3-time Grammy winner attended the 18th Annual Golden Heart Awards in New York City, where she was awarded the 2024 genLOVE Award for Outstanding Philanthropy. With awards organized by longtime Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and designer Michael Kors, also co-chairs of charitable meal service God’s Love We Deliver, Megan’s ongoing advocacy for women’s rights, mental health and equality was highlighted.
The Pete & Thomas Foundation, named after Megan’s late parents, Joseph Pete, Jr. and Holly Thomas was launched in 2022. Throughout the years, the foundation has distributed Mother’s Day care packages for domestic violence survivors, provided hurricane relief efforts to senior citizens, and covered layaway balances for families in need.
“From advocating for mental health and creating safe spaces for young women, to supporting our senior citizens, I’m so proud of the work that our organization has accomplished so far,” Megan said during her acceptance speech below. “But we do have much more to achieve!”
She continued, “At the end of the day, I believe in the power of uplifting one another and establishing environments where everyone can thrive. We all know that this can world can be tough, but it’s also filled with resilience, love and compassion.”
Megan Thee Stallion’s resilience, particularly in the aftermath of being shot in 2020 by Canadian singer and rapper Tory Lanez, will be covered in her upcoming Prime Video documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, which debuts on Oct. 31.
