I think enough time has passed so that we can definitively say Bella Hadid is not in a cowboy era. She’s not going through a horse-girl phase. And she’s not riding a western trend. Rodeo fashion has become a way of life for the supermodel turned fragrance maker. I submit to you the latest of Hadid’s cowgirl-casual outfits, which she was photographed wearing on August 21.
Hadid was in full Daisy Duke mode, including the character’s namesake denim cutoff shorts, a bright red tie-front top revealing plenty of skin, and, of course, leather cowboy boots.
It’s the little details that really bring a western-inspired outfit together—a touch of turquoise here, a bit of fringe there—which Hadid clearly understands. She accessorized this particular look with a brown studded belt, a suede tote bag, and a stack of bracelets. In the past, Hadid has made use of chunky jewelry, leather pants, paisley prints, and curly updos to help country-ize her looks. And I haven’t even mentioned her rodeo-star boyfriend or the fact that she hosted her birthday party in a horse stable—which takes real horse-girl commitment.
But Bella Hadid has been a horse girl for a long time. It’s just the aesthetic that’s changed—from blue-blooded equestrian to American cowgirl. And that takes a whole different kind of commitment.
