While loading up on hotdogs and ooh-ing over fireworks are on my priority list this weekend, I’m also carving out time to shop Fourth of July clothing sales.
We’re at the point where the heat has finally set in and, somehow, nothing I wore last summer excites me (or fits, TBH). I’m ready to refresh my closet with a breezy white dress, wide-leg jeans, and walking sandals comfortable enough for travel. There are also plenty of summer fashion trends I want to try, like fisherman sandals, butter yellow maxis, bubble dresses, raffia totes, oval sunglasses, and statement belts. Blessedly, there are tons of Independence Day clothing deals that’ll help me reach my goals.
As Glamour’s shopping editor, I’ve tracked down the best Fourth of July clothing sales that are actually worth your time (and mine). You’ll find excellent markdowns on many big-name retailers and designers, including Madewell, Kate Spade, Nordstrom, Free People, Artizia, and much more. Let’s get into it.
Glamour’s Fourth of July clothing sales wish list
Here’s a cheat sheet of the standout discounts our team is adding to our carts.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale—the retailer’s biggest event of the year—gets underway later this month (you can preview those sales now). In the meantime, plenty of picks (including from such designer labels as Vince Camuto and Tory Burch) are discounted and ready to punch up your summer wardrobe.
J.Crew’s end-of-season sale features a wave of workwear and summery staples like my favorite one-piece swimsuit, strappy sandals, espadrilles, and airy linen pants—with up to 60% off as the retailer makes way for fall styles. Be sure to use the code JULY at checkout.
With Amazon Prime Day deals on the horizon—July 16 and 17, to be exact—the retailer is already slashing prices on summery must-haves. I’m especially loving these marked-down picks for any of your wedding-guest dress needs.
If you’re a fan of the brand, you know that Kate Spade sales are few and far between—so its end-of-season event is more than worth your time. Right now, its sale styles are an extra 50% off through July 7. Affordable designer bags, cute wallets, and warm-weather clothes are all up for grabs.
Middle-school me is still reeling that Abercrombie & Fitch is one of my top-three places to shop now that I’m in my 30s. But the brand is seriously killing it with its blend of pieces tailored enough to wear to work—Glamour-editor favorite straight-leg jeans that come in a ton of sizes, and sexier items like mini skorts. It’s also relatively affordable—even more so, with up to 20% off almost across its entire site.
Although there’s usually always some kind of Old Navy sale going on, the brand doesn’t play with its Fourth of July clothing deals. This time around, it’s offering goodies like $2 flip-flops and $10 swimwear for everyone, plus 60% off everything else (a 20% jump from last year’s July 4 sale).
Everlane never misses with its high-quality basics made out of organic, zero-waste fabrics. I own so many long-lasting pieces from the brand—jeans, ballet flats, tank tops, wrap dresses. You can save up to 70% on its site as part of its summer sale, but I advise moving now because sizes run out quickly.
I’m a long-time Madewell shopper, but admittedly, some of its clothing is pricier than my budget allows. Thankfully, its sales are generous, and its end-of-season sale boasts up to 70% off. Spotted: These chic thong kitten heels and a pretty white linen dress—and you can add an extra(!!) 30% off its sale price with code COOLDOWN.
Shopbop’s sale section is seemingly never-ending, and thousands of newly discounted items (at up to 70% off, no less) have just been added. It features an enviable collection of special designer dresses, bikinis, T-shirts, handbags, and jewelry.
If any retailer knows how to do a sale-on-sale event, it’s Anthro. Tons of the site’s expertly curated selection of clothes and accessories are now on sale, with everything now an extra 50% off. Load up on printed dresses, coquette tops, wide-brimmed sun hats—and candles, skin care, and jewelry, while you’re at it.
Free People’s sale offerings are wide-ranging, including comfy, cozy loungewear, dreamy dresses, slouchy jeans, jumpsuits, activewear, and platform clogs.
Our shopping team happily buys Tory Burch bags, accessories, and clothes at full price, so they need little convincing whenever discounts enter the chat. Note: The brand’s ongoing semiannual sale wraps up at midnight on July 3 (it won’t run on July 4), meaning you have only a few more days to score sale styles like these jelly sandals for an additional 25% off.
Take up to 60% off nearly everything from this Kate Middleton–adored brand, including its splashy maxi dresses, cute kids’ clothes, and incredible swim collection.
We’re all sleeping on Mango, y’all. If you haven’t checked out the site lately, now’s the time. It’s discounting everything by up to 50%, and with code EXTRA15, you’ll receive an extra 15% off four or more items, or 10% off three items. Everything includes this gorgeous bubble dress that’s just $36 with the markdown. I’m personally adding this woven shoulder bag and these sheer mesh ballet flats to the cart.
Hanna Andersson’s one of the most enduring baby clothes brands (not to mention Mommy-and-me outfits)—and who could resist, with all its cheery, vibrant patterns? Its Big Hanna sale lets you save up to 60% (plus an extra 20% off its clearance items with code BONUS20). I’ll be scooping up that freaking adorable flower swimwear set for my goddaughters, thanks.
If you thought Zappos sold ony shoes, you’re in for a (polite) awakening! The retailer has so much to shop—activewear, denim, sandals, sneakers, backpacks, dresses, purses—and ships impressively quickly, in my experience. Some of its top brands that you can find discounted at the moment: Coach, Hoka, Sorel, Free People, Crocs, UnderArmour, Dr. Martens, Sam Edelman, Levi’s, and the North Face.
DSW’s semi-annual sale goes hard on its clearance section, letting you take up to 65% off its already reduced products (like these comfortable heels and slim sneakers from Puma—a shoe trend for the year). Footwear is what the store is known for, but it features accessories and handbags too.
Tons of romantic dresses (including its famous nap dress), tops, and adorable puff sleeve swim suits are an extra 20% off right now for Hill House Home’s Fourth of July event. Cape Cod, here I come! If anyone wants to take me, that is. Cough.
Aritzia is where I always land when I’m looking for clothing that feels, well, cool—such as an oversized jean jacket, slingback heel, silk skirt, or bodysuit. Someone sound the siren: The brand is taking up to 50% off everything for its summer sale. Thank my lucky stars.
