It’s the first Monday in May. If you’re even tangentially interested in fashion, you know what that means: It’s Met Gala time, baby! This year, the theme is a strong one rooted in the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. It delves into the history of Black dandyism and celebrates the ways that dressing oneself can be not just a mundane act but a means of creating and reasserting identity. (If you want to learn more about the theme, take a look at our full explainer.)

Tonight is also the first time that menswear has been the focus of the evening in more than 20 years, which is pretty exciting for folks with their eyes trained on stars like Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, and A$AP Rocky (all of whom are co-chairs for 2025, by the way).

With an official dress code of “Tailored for You,” don’t be surprised if you see a whole lot of suits on the red carpet. But considering the nature of the night, you shouldn’t expect them to be standard fare. This is a theme that’s a little easier to wrap one’s head around and actually execute than, say, 2019’s Camp: Notes on Fashion, so we’re gearing up for the guys to go all out. Will there be big, bold, double-breasted suits? Without a doubt. Daring color combos? Absolutely. And hats? You better believe it.

Take a look at our picks for the best-dressed guys from fashion’s big night below.
