Fellas, please—don’t overthink it! The beauty of a tank top is that it’s an inherently chill garment. Unlike button-ups, polos, and even some tees, the tank top requires little effort to look good; you don’t have to worry about a whole lot of styling, but there are definitely some styling tips you can follow to ensure you’re looking like a Hemsworth brother.
If you’re opting for an athletic tank top, choose one that doesn’t fit too long, lest you look awkward. A cropped fit can be cool, especially with shorts and sneakers. Otherwise, regular workout pants or sweats will do you good.
For casual, everyday tank tops, the styling options are pretty limitless. You can layer a tank top under an unbuttoned flannel, a cardigan, or even a button-up. You can wear one solo with jeans or shorts and your favorite casual shoe; I warn against trying to elevate a tank top too much, because, let’s face it—a white ribbed undershirt and your finest Oxford shoes is quite the odd combo.
