Whenever I’m in need of formalwear (I’m talking wedding guest dresses, cocktail attire, and even maxi-length vacation dresses), Lulus has been my go-to in my early adulthood. The brand boasts just about every formalwear look you could ever think up, and their styles are so good, they make me wish I had shopped the brand for my junior and senior proms. Instead, I spent those days browsing through dozens of racks at the mall. It took multiple shopping trips to finally settle on the dress I felt was right for me, and I still needed to get it hemmed (hi, yes I’m 5’1″), much to my mother’s wallet’s dismay.
Lulus has taken the guesswork out of all of those pursuits, with its wide variety of colors, cuts, lengths, and sizes, and the brand’s knack for affordability that doesn’t compromise quality and material. Below, I’m taking a trip down memory lane myself, exploring some of the best prom dress trends Lulus has to offer this year. I can’t wait to shop for my next (err, adult) event!
Best Lulus prom dresses, at a glance
Best in blue
Blue prom dresses pretty much look gorgeous on all skin tones, so they’re high up on the list as a major prom trend for this year. We’re eyeing a ton of blue styles at Lulus, but our favorites include this light blue ruched dress (one word: chic) and this tiered, textured maxidress. They’ll become your spring dress option for every occasion.
Embellishments and sequins, please
If you’re a sequins girlie (same), you’ll love these intricate styles at Lulus that feature sparkles and patterns. Whether it’s this lace-up forest green maxidress or this stunning black number, which I foresee myself purchasing for an upcoming spring wedding.
Floral flare
Florals, for spring? Lulus has some stunning takes on spring dress trends, appropriate enough for a black-tie event or prom. Cases in point: this stunning embroidered piece and this flowing pink organza dress, both for under $100.
A cutout moment
Cutouts might feel a little mature for prom, but hear us out. Lulus has some age-appropriate styles like this asymmetrical halter dress and this backless and sophisticated satin strappy gown.
Tiered and on trend
Tiered prom dresses seem to be the high-low dress of 2025 (if you went to prom just over 10 years ago, you’ll know what I’m talking about). Lulus has some gorgeous tiered options that land the trend—including this light pink floral number (it’s giving Kristen Dunst / Marie Antoinette chic) and this sleeveless corseted pick that’s complete with stunning asymmetrical layers on the skirt.
