The British Royal Family have congratulated Prince Harry on his 40th birthday on their social media platforms. This is the first congratulation that the Duke of Sussex has officially received since his father, Charles III, was crowned King, as well as the first that birthday tribute the royal family dedicated to him since 2021, after he decided to leave the institution with Meghan Markle.

“We wish a very happy 40th birthday to the Duke of Sussex!” read the message shared on social networks by the British royal family next to a photograph of Harry.

Prince Harry has also received congratulations from the Prince and Princess of Wales on Instagram and X, although Prince William and Kate Middleton’s communications team limited themselves to reposting the message sent by Buckingham Palace.

As sources of the British royal house reminded the Sunday Times this Sunday, the British royal family, as a rule, only publicly congratulates those who are official members of the institution, although exceptions are made for “special birthdays,” which seems to be the case for Harry’s milestone 40th.

However, apart from these messages, there is no other sign at the moment that reconciliation between Prince Harry and his family is near. This summer, the prince and his brother coincided at the funeral of one of their uncles, Lord Fellowes, but according to the British press they did not even want to greet each other. The Duke of Sussex also did not take advantage of his brief return to the United Kingdom to see his father, as their relationship remains strained.

It remains to be seen now what happens during the visit Harry plans to make again to his country to support a children’s NGO, of which he is patron. As is true for all his visits to the UK, the British press will be heavily monitoring whether or not he meets with his family.
