On his way to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wore a sleek white hoodie. As he walked out of the locker room he wore a classic black hoodie — both looks by BOSS. In between, he casually won his third Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP trophies. But for every moment that Mahomes was adding to his record-breaking run on the field, he had a BOSS fit ready to rock off it. “That’s something I’ll remember forever,” he says, reminiscing about that incredible weekend and the clothes he wore through it. It’s that versatility, combined with the brand’s sporty, fashion-forward styles, that gets to the core of what the NFL’s greatest active quarterback loves most about BOSS.
“They influence me to keep expanding my fashion to a different level,” he says fresh from his BOSS shoot with Complex, sporting a BOSS black leather jacket over one of the BOSS x NFL Collection’s tees. “They want me to be me and feel confident, but at the same time push me to be even better.”

As he tested out this year’s BOSS x NFL Collection, Mahomes was excited to keep pushing the boundaries of what it means to wear team-branded apparel — far beyond gameday. “Cool is the perfect word for the BOSS x NFL Collection,” he adds. “You can wear it in a formal setting and at the same time still be comfortable.”

“Like this,” he says, gesturing at the classic black tee with a subtle tonal NFL print that he’s wearing. “It’s not just a regular T-shirt — it has great material. It’s BOSS and it’s Chiefs, but it has a good streetwear vibe to it, where it can be a lifestyle fit as well.”

The comfort of the collection made the photo shoot — which Mahomes says he still doesn’t find nearly as natural as tossing a spiral — a little easier. “I always tell the photographers, ‘I’m coachable, so just let me know what you want me to do,'” he jokes. “It’s cool when you see the picture and you’re like, ‘Man, I did not feel that cool. I look great now.'”
“I try to do a good job of looking formal, but at the same time looking like I’m confident and have a little bit of swag.”
Mahomes has also partnered with BOSS to level up his looks in the pregame tunnel — especially for away games, which is when players traditionally wear suits. Many of the two-time NFL MVP’s pregame suits are custom-made by BOSS. That includes the medium brown number with a black turtleneck and decadent layers of chains he wore to play the Dolphins in Frankfurt.

“Social media has blown up so much now that everybody sees it,” Mahomes says. “I try to do a good job of looking formal, but at the same time looking like I’m confident and have a little bit of swag.” He carried that swag all the way to last year’s Met Gala, where he wore a custom double-breasted BOSS suit with a Mandarin collar.
There’s a practical element to his pregame fits too, especially in Kansas City where the temperature at one game’s kickoff last season was -4 degrees Fahrenheit. “I actually just shot one of the puffer jackets and I already told ’em I want that,” says Mahomes. “They have a great winter collection that I’m excited for, and throwing some type of formal coat on top of the suit that I’m wearing can sometimes spice up my style a little bit.”
“I’ve gotten really confident in being able to show my style and show what I like about fashion.”
The quarterback is also into upgrading his style with accessories, whether a sharp pair of shades, an eye-catching chain or a bold watch. “It’s not just, ‘Throw on the shirt and you’re good to go’ — you’ve got to have a full outfit: the glasses, a nice watch, a nice bracelet,” Mahomes says. “I’m getting better at it as my career goes on.”

As Mahomes’ fashion repertoire and taste keeps evolving, so too do the risks he’s willing to take — stepping outside his comfort zone, as a guy who has historically spent a lot more time in sweats and breaking a sweat than he has thinking about his look. “I actually learned this from Travis Kelce: As long as you wear it with confidence, and people can see it in your walk, usually no fit is even that risky,” Mahomes says, before lightly ribbing his teammate. “He wears crazy stuff and I’m not going to go that far, but at the same time, it’s pushed me to kind of grow my style.”
“I’ve gotten really confident in being able to show my style and show what I like about fashion,” Mahomes concludes. “And it might not be for everybody, but it’s for me.”
