Actually, everybody wants a Nobody Wants This season two. And we’ve got good news: It’s already started filming.
Romantic comedy is so back thanks to Netflix’s latest, which climbed to the number one spot the week after it premiered. The first 10 episodes followed the unlikely love story between sex-and-relationships podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Jewish rabbi Noah (Adam Brody), along the way reminding millennial viewers why we all fell in love with Brody back on The O.C.
Nobody Wants This was not just popular with fans but also industry insiders, who nominated it for three Golden Globes, including best television musical or comedy series, as well as best performance nods for Brody and Bell. Even though they lost, that’s a pretty big deal—and Brody later took home the award for best actor in a comedy series at the Critics Choice Awards.
Season one ended with Joanne and Noah together, but a lot of questions remain unanswered. Will Noah have to give up being a rabbi altogether? Will Bina ever learn to fully accept Joanne? And what, exactly, is going on between Sasha and Morgan?
Here is everything we know about what comes next.
Of course, Nobody Wants This was renewed for season two.
A few weeks after Nobody Wants This premiered on September 26, 2024 Netflix made things official: On October 10 the streamer announced that the show had been renewed for a second season—but there will be some big changes behind the scenes. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, former executive producers of HBO’s award-winning dramedy Girls, will join as executive producers and showrunners; Nora Silver will also join as an executive producer, alongside season-one executive producers Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Bell, and Steven Levitan.
In a press release, Konner called the opportunity to work on season two “a dream.”
“Erin is the rare creator with a crystal-clear voice and a genuinely collaborative spirit,” she added. “I am a true fan of Erin’s show and also feel so lucky to be back in a room with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls.”
Said Foster, “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls.… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”
