Hear Tems’ cover of ‘No Woman No Cry’ from new ‘Wakanda Forever Prologue’ EP

Tems has shared a cover of the Bob Marley and the Wailers song, ‘No Woman No Cry’ as part of a three-song EP released for the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Tems’ version of the 1974 original was first heard during Wakanda Forever’s recently-released trailer, but was released in full today (July 26), alongside additional soundtrack contributions ‘A Body, A Coffin’ by Amaarae and ‘Soy’ by Santa Fe Klan.
Together, the trio of tracks comprise the film’s first musical offering: Wakanda Forever Prologue. Listen below:
In a press statement regarding the EP, the film’s director Ryan Coogler and composer Ludwig Göransson described Wakanda Forever Prologue as an “aural first glimpse” into the “sound world for the film”, borne out of the pair’s “extended trips to Mexico and Nigeria.”
“During the nights on these trips, we had recording sessions with contemporary artists who were akin to the characters and thematic material explored in the film… The instrumental score and soundtrack for Wakanda Forever both organically grew from these sessions and workshops,” the joint statement read.
Set to be released in cinemas in November of this year, Wakanda Forever is the sequel to Marvel’s first Black Panther film, which was released in 2018. The soundtrack for that film was curated and produced by Kendrick Lamar, and featured the likes of SZA and The Weeknd, alongside an Oscar-winning score by Göransson.
The trailer version of the cover by Tems, who this year won a BET Award for Best International Act, was interpolated with a somber rendition of Lamar’s 2015 track ‘Alright’. While Lamar’s return to the Marvel project is as-yet unconfirmed, the film will see actors Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira reprise their roles in the franchise.
Tems’ appearance on the soundtrack follows the 2021 release of her sophomore EP, ‘If Orange Was A Place’, which earned the Nigerian singer a place among NME’s 20 best EPs and mixtapes of that year.
In the time between, Tems has performed festival sets at Parklife and Glastonbury, the latter of which was praised by NME’s Kyann-Sian Williams in a five-star review.
“[It was] a joyous return to the stage for the star…her UK comeback performance [was] flawless without any major hitches, and you can’t help but walk away feeling proud of her resilience,” Williams wrote.

Radiohead to release new material in “next couple of years”

Radiohead‘s drummer Philip Selway has said that the band will release new material “of some sort” in the “next couple of years”.

In January, Selway said that he and his bandmates would be meeting up early this year to start putting things in motion. “We’re going to get together at the start of [2023], and I’m sure we’re going to start looking at other ideas for what comes next,” he said.
Now, the drummer has told Prog Magazine [via MusicNews]: “We’re always talking about stuff. But in terms of an actual kind of collective project, beyond the ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ stuff that we’ve been doing [2021’s ‘Kid AMnesia’ reissue project and interactive exhibition], it’s kind of further down the line for us when that will happen. We’re talking about that, but at the moment everybody’s doing their own thing.
“When the pandemic happened, we’d always planned to take a veer off from Radiohead around that, so we could get on with other stuff. But that just meant that those other projects kind of grew, so we’re allowing time for all of those projects to go where they need to. But yeah, we’ll get together soon and in the next couple of years there will be something there, of some sort.”
Radiohead’s last album was 2016’s ‘A Moon Shaped Pool‘.
Elsewhere, the drummer, who recently released his second solo album under his own name, ‘Strange Dance’, revealed that he’s already working on its follow-up.
Asked if the next record is taking shape, he said: “It is, actually. You get to the end of one project and can’t see beyond that for a little while, but it’s led by the ideas that you’ve got coming as well. To do a solo record you need songs and they are starting to happen a bit more now. So yeah, I would love to.
“When I first started doing the solo stuff, I was just thinking of it as a trilogy of records and didn’t really project beyond that.
“I certainly didn’t think I’d end up doing soundtrack work or any of the other stuff. And in some ways, I guess ‘Strange Dance’ feels as though it’s completing that initial cycle. And it feels wonderful to be at that point.”
Last summer, Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien discussed the band’s future, saying: “It might happen, but the other thing is… it might not. And does that matter?
“There’s no Radiohead at the moment,” he added. “There’s a truth to what we do, so we’re not going to be one of those bands that gets together for the big payday.”
In other news, a mash-up of tracks by Ice Spice, PinkPantheress and Radiohead has gone viral after being shared on Twitter.

iKON’s Bobby has released a new solo song titled ‘Cherry Blossom’ and its music video.
Today (March 20), the K-pop idol unveiled the music video for ‘Cherry Blossom’, a track from his upcoming single album ’S.i.R’. The project, which will feature the title track ‘Drowning’, will be released tomorrow (March 21) at 6pm KST.
In the ‘Cherry Blossom’ music video, Bobby wakes up in a dim bedroom, before getting up to sing and dance to the upbeat new track as he is haunted by memories of the past. The idol grows more sullen towards the end of the visual, eventually returning to his bed in the darkness.
“You were more beautiful than cherry blossoms / You lasted longer than cherry blossoms / Like cherry blossoms, you took spring away with you / More cherry than cherry blossoms, you more than cherry blossoms,” he sings in the chorus.
‘Cherry Blossom’ marks Bobby’s first solo release since he and his iKON bandmates left longtime agency YG Entertainment in December 2022. All six members of the boyband have since signed with 143 Entertainment, and will reportedly release a new album this April.
Earlier this month, iKON announced that they would soon be embarking on their ‘Take Off’ world tour, which will take place from May to September. The group will be touring East and Southeast Asia, Europe and North America as part of the tour.

The first posthumous Coolio album ‘Long Live Coolio’ is set to be released later this year, with the first single ‘TAG, You It’ arriving ahead of the record.
The record will feature material the rapper was working on before his passing in September last year at age 59. Meanwhile, the album’s first single ‘TAG, You IT’ featuring Too $hort and DJ Wino is out now, alongside its music video.
The video, which was filmed before Coolio’s passing, sees the late rapper and Too $hort making at appearance at a boxing ring to watch a group of women tackling each other to the mat.
The ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ rapper, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr, passed away on September 28 last year. His cause of death was never officially disclosed, though his manager told TMZ that medical services at the scene said Coolio died of cardiac arrest.
Following his passing, Coolio’s ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ re-entered Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and Hot Rap Songs chart, while also making a comeback in countries like Greece, Belgium and the UK among others. It was the first time the track had re-entered the charts since 1996.
Alongside ‘Gangster’s Paradise’, the rest of Coolio’s catalogue also saw an uptick on streaming services, with Billboard reporting a rise of 264.3 per cent overall in the two weeks following his passing.
Futurama producer David X. Cohen has also revealed that Coolio will feature posthumously in the show’s upcoming return. Prior to his death, the rapper recorded lines for his character, Kwanzaa-bot, as well as a freestyle rap.
