Hypervolt Massage Guns 2024 – An Editor’s Honest Review

In that story, I said I prefer Therabody’s Theragun to Hyperice’s Hypervolt. Let me be clear! That’s personal preference, and it’s also not the full picture. Do I think Theraguns are better designed? Yeah. Does that mean never buy a Hypervolt? No. Theraguns are easy to use on yourself, but Hypervolts are great if you’ve got a partner, training buddy, or roommate to help massage you. I really, really like the value proposition of Hypervolt massagers. They’re more affordable than Theraguns, and they provide a better value lower down the price scale. Unless you’re training like a pro athlete (love that for you), you don’t need a $600 top-of-the-line Theragun. If you’re looking to pay less than $300, consider a Hyperice. To help you make a decision, here’s my ranking of the brand’s three massage guns.
”/>

Hyperice

Hypervolt Go 2

The Value Massager King

Hypervolt Go 2

Pros
 • Great value
 • Great size, easy to toss in a gym bag
 • Better than competitors at the pricepoint
Cons
 • Not quite powerful enough for strength trainers or distance runners

Hypervolt’s are funny, because the cheaper models are the ones I recommend to people the most. The Hypervolt Go 2 is my favorite in the lineup.

This thing is small and easy to toss into a gym bag, but it’ll do pretty much anything one of the bigger, more expensive massagers does. And, at $130, it’s a lot cheaper than the Theragun Mini, and it’s a little bit more serious than the Theragun Relief. With a little golf bag holster for $20, it becomes the best deal in massage tech. If you’re looking for an entry massage gun, this is it.

The Most Affordable Mid-Tier Massager

Hypervolt 2

The Most Affordable Mid-Tier Massager

Hypervolt 2

Pros
 • Reasonable price, $100 less than any competitor
 • Strong enough for about 75% of athletes
Cons
 • Doesn’t have the dial adjustment like Hypervolt Pro

Another place where Hyperice shines is the Hypervolt 2. The equivalent Theraguns—the Prime, Elite, and Sense—are all great massage guns, but they’re all at least $100 more expensive. At this price point, and for what you’re really getting, I’d really just recommend going for the Hypervolt 2.

This isn’t a pro level massager, and neither are those others. My dad (a distance runner) and my brother (a climber) both have this massage gun on my recommendation. They don’t need all the bells and whistles, but they could benefit from some light massaging.

The only Theragun model I would maybe recommend here is the new Theragun Sense, which does everything this Hypervolt does, but it has additional breathwork exercise. If that doesn’t appeal to you, buy this Hypervolt.

Top of The Line, But Not Best In Show

Hypervolt Pro 2

Pro 2

Top of The Line, But Not Best In Show

Hypervolt Pro 2

Pros
 • Cheap for a top of the line model
 • Easy dial control and comfortable grip
 • Really good battery life
Cons
 • Theragun top models are just better overall

The Hypervolt Pro 2 is great, don’t get me wrong. I really loved using it, especially the dial you use to adjust the speed. It’s intuitive and weirdly satisfying.

The only thing is, at this price, I would just justify making the jump to a Theragun. You’re already paying $300+ what’s $500 or $600? (Theragun always discounts past season’s stock, the 4th Gen Pro is currently $349). If you’re buying the top of the line tech, spring for the best version of it, and I believe that’s at Theragun.

That said! If you’re budget doesn’t allow for a top-of-the-line Theragun, this is an amazing massage gun. It’s powerful. It has a great suite of attachments. And, it has that incredible and easy-to-use dial control. Pair it with the new heated head, and you’ve got a great full-service setup.
