The coolest guy you know wears Carhartt. That guy could be your stylish coworker, or your friend who asks you ad nauseam to take a fit pic of him, or even Academy Award-nominated actor Austin Butler.

While leaving Polo Bar earlier this week, Butler was spotted wearing a vintage black Carhartt workwear jacket with a brown corduroy collar, a black baseball cap, baggy pants, and black boots—a look I’d like to call “being as incognito as you can be while also being Austin Butler.”

On the red carpet, we’re used to seeing Austin Butler styled to the nines; he’s no stranger to a sharp suit jacket and crisp button-down, but clearly, he isn’t unfamiliar with chic, laid-back streetwear, either. Being durable as it is, Carhartt is, in fact, a great brand for winter jackets that you can wear on a 30 degree night in New York City. The Detroit Jacket style is also versatile as hell; it can be styled à la Austin, with a simple white tee and matching black pants, or dressed up with some pleated pants, a sweater, and loafers, or even dressed down with jeans and sneakers.

If you thought Carhartt was hard to cop when you were just battling it out with all the streetwear heads and menswear enthusiasts, consider the fact that you might now also be vying for a Detroit Jacket against Austin Butler himself. The style he wore isn’t available online anymore, but don’t fret—there are similar options just as stylish and cool below.
