A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: What We Know About the Game of Thrones Spin-Off

My games? Throned. My dragons? Housed. But my nights? Could still use some more Westeros. Thankfully, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is coming soon to bring us even more blood, guts, medieval aesthetics, and questionably consensual sexual encounters. Yes, another Game of Thrones spin-off is on its way, so rally your bannermen and grab your popcorn!

Here’s everything we know about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

It’s halfway between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon in the timeline

Set roughly 100 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms seems to be more about setting up what’s to come than paying off the dragon battles unfolding on that other spin-off. There will probably be references and tie-ins to House of the Dragon, but we’d venture to guess that the writers of this show assume you’re familiar with GoT and hope you’re familiar with HotD, but aren’t counting on it. In fact, we’ve already heard a bit about Duncan’s and Egg’s deeds from Joffrey, but we won’t spoil what they ended up accomplishing.

HBO

It’s about Dunk and Egg.

Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, to be precise. They’re the main characters in George R. R. Martin’s set of novellas, Tales of Dunk and Egg. Duncan is a nobody (so it seems, at the start) wannabe knight, with a sort of himbo personality, sweet and a little stupid, looking to make a name for himself via tournaments.

The trailer hints at a (slightly) lighter tone.

Far from the ominous white walkers of winter…humor is coming! Duncan in particular seems to get turned around a lot, and HBO’s final trailer promises plenty of action and, yes, some drama, but compared with the War Show vibe of the original GoT trailer, this is a downright comedy. It’s an adventure!
